International Competition

Competing overseas gives riders invaluable experience as they get to compete with a much larger pool of athletes. The Malta Equestrian Federation aims to provide opportunities for local riders to compete overseas.

No Objection Certificates

Competitions overseas fall into two categories – national competitions (organised by host federations or organising committees) or international competitions (organised by the FEI).  In order to compete overseas in national or international competition, riders require a No Objection Certificate, issued by their home federation, in order to compete.

The World Clubs Tournament

The Malta Equestrian Federation has been invited by the French Equestrian Federation (FFE) to compete in an international competition in Lamotte Beuvron in France in the summer. More information about the team event is available below.

International Competition

International competitions, organised by the FEI, are the top level in sport. With competitions held regularly throughout Europe, Maltese athletes, having reached the required level, are able to travel to competitions on mainland Europe. The Malta Equestrian Federation, through a grant from EquestriMalta, aim to provide as much support for athletes competing at this level.

Sports Leave for Young Riders

Training and competitions overseas during term time, are often unattainable without school-aged riders missing some school. While it is up to the young rider’s legal guardians and the school to grant leave of absence. The MEF will write an official letter recommending sports leave is granted in certain situations.
