The Maltese islands present unique challenges to Maltese riders who seek to compete on an international stage. Transport involves not only the athlete and their team but also their equine partner, which increases costs considerably. The Malta Equestrian Federation is committed to supporting athletes at all stages of their equestrian journey.  

With the help of EquestriMalta, we have been able to support riders with subsidised with travel for horses attending international competitions. Riders requesting assistance should apply to the MEF by email at maltaequestrianfederation@gmail.com at least four weeks before the event. Applications are not guaranteed and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  

Terms and Conditions

· Riders applying for these funds must have been a paid-up member for at least two years.

· Riders must be riding under the Maltese flag. This means that they have a Maltese passport.

· Subsidies are only available for riders competing at international level (FEI events). National events overseas do not fall under international events. Events covered are CDI or CSI events.

· There is a cap of €2,400 per trip.

· A maximum of €4,800 is available for each individual rider per annum.

• Transportation costs will only be subsidised for athletes competing in the MEF National Championships.
